Government to act as enabler for startups: CIM

According to Piyush Goyal, Minister of Commerce and Industry, the Indian government is all set to act as a guiding light for the startups in the country rather than a regulator. The minister was speaking on the first meeting of the National Startup Advisory Council (NSAC), held to advise the government on measures to establish a supportive ecosystem for startups and generate large scale employment.

In a statement issued by the government, Goyal commented, “We have witnessed tremendous efforts by stakeholders right from national to block levels towards the realization of our Hon’ble PM’s ‘Startup India’ vision’.”

Further stressing on ingraining the ‘Startup India’ as a movement for national partnership and consciousness, Goyal urged on the need to promote entrepreneurship skills at school level and encourage students to innovate. Successful entrepreneurs can contribute by sharing their knowledge, experience, ideas and mentor the young population. According to the minister, India has a possibility to become the world’s most innovative and largest startup ecosystem.
