TCS bags largest ever retail deal

Tata Consultancy Services has won a US$ 1.5 billion deal across a ten-year period from US pharma retailer Walgreens Boots Alliance (WBA), its largest ever deal in the retail space. TCS will be involved in transformation of WBA’s technology operations. It will take over the staff, consolidate vendors, and manage the entire IT operations of the US$ 136.9 billion Walgreen Boots, which is one of the world’s largest retailers. Furthermore, TCS will modernise applications and cloud enable the technology operations for Walgreen Boots, which has been its customer for over a decade. The software giant has also committed to ensure cost savings for the retailer during the entire deal
period, besides providing managed services like application maintenance and support, infrastructure and security operations. “The deal marks a pivot in the relationship between Walgreens and TCS and takes us to become their growth and transformation partner. TCS is transforming their whole IT operating model,” Rajashree Ramakrishnan, Chief Marketing Officer, TCS said.
