Taipei appeals WTO for dispute consultations with India

On Monday, Chinese Taipei approached the World Trade Organization (WTO) to commence dispute consultations with India due to the duties (ranging from 7.5% to 20%) imposed by New Delhi on the imports of certain information and communications technology (ICT) goods. These include products such as phones, amplifiers, digital cameras, base stations, optical fibre cables and electronic integrated circuits.

“Through those measures, India accords less favourable treatment to the commerce of the Separate Customs Territory of Taiwan, Penghu, Kinmen and Matsu of certain information and communication technology goods than provided for in its Schedule,” Chinese Taipei informed the WTO. These duties infringe the global trade rules, according to the representation.
