Steel Import Monitoring System launched

On 16th September, the Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Piyush Goyal launched the Steel Import Monitoring System. The system will provide advanced information about steel import to government and other stakeholders, including producers and consumers, to have effective policy interventions. SIMS requires the importers of specified steel products to register in advance on its web portal. The importer can apply for online registration not earlier than 60th day and not later than 15th day before the expected date of arrival of the steel consignment being imported. 

A Common Digital Platform for issuance of electronic Certificates of Origin (CoO) has also been launched. It will be a single access point for all exporters, for all Free Trade Agreements (FTAs)/Preferential Trade Agreements (PTAs) and for all the concerned agencies.
