Oct 31 Brexit is dubitable

On Tuesday, British lawmakers rejected the government’s proposed timetable for passing legislation to ratify its Brexit deal. Lawmakers voted by 322 to 308 against the so-called programme motion citing the reason that they did not have ample time to scrutinize such an important bill. This has cast shadows over Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s vow to leave the European Union by the end of the month.

While Boris himself is desperate to meet the deadline, he had to share a letter to EU requesting for an extension by three months, on the insistence of British parliament last Tuesday. But he sent another personalized letter to EU leaders on Saturday, he sang a different tune as he wrote, “I remain confident that we will complete the [Brexit] process by 31 October.” This is bound to generate further controversy in the coming days.
