Negotiation on dairy out of India-US trade talks

Almost 40 products including pistachios, walnuts and apples have been identified by India & US for duty concessions. In official trade negotiations of the two countries last week, they tried to zero in on workable concessions for medical devices. US also requested India to reduce the import duty on pulses. US, along with Canada and Australia, had appealed to the World Trade Organization (WTO) against India’s ban on import of certain pulses to check falling prices in the domestic market.

“This is a good progress because both sides have sensitive issues. The way the two sides are progressing, a trade package could be finalised in a month or two,” stated an expert on trade issues.
