INR 5,151 cr: India’s organic products exports in 2018-19

Union Minister of Agriculture and FarmeINR’ Welfare, Shri Narendra Singh Tomar informed the Lok Sabh that India exported 6,14.089.61 tonnes of organic products, valued at INR 5,150.99 crore, in the fiscal year 2018-19. The total production of organic products in the country during the same period stood at 25,087,328.65 tonnes. The minister also said that Maharashtra has emerged the top producer of organic products in the country with total production of 12,474,318.83 tonnes in 2018-19. He added that production of certified agricultural commodities in the country during the fiscal stood at 2.607,384.90 tonnes.

The government has been practicing various schemes like Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana (PKVY) and Mission Organic Value Chain Development North Eastern Region (MOVCDNER) to promote organic farming in the country.
