GoI to Support Labor Intensive Sectors to Set Shops in SEZs

The government is planning to support some giants in the labor-intensive sectors like garments, leather and electronic to set shops in Special Economic Zones (SEZs). Through this move, government wants to help them set up units in two-three ports so that these giants could create an environment where the jobs are created and the products are manufactured to fulfill the domestic and international demands.

Employment generation is one of the top priorities of the Government of India. Hence the government is exploring all possible ways to push for job creation in labor intensive sectors, said an official.
