TPCI organises India-Russia Buyer-Seller Meet

Trade Promotion Council of India, in collaboration with the Embassy of India in Moscow, organized a multi-sector India-Russia Buyer-Seller meet on May 11-14, 2022. The meeting was organised to understand the current demand scenario in Russia for focus sectors and explore opportunities to serve this demand.

Trade Promotion Council of India, in collaboration with the Embassy of India in Moscow, organized a multi-sector India-Russia Buyer-Seller meet on May 11-14, 2022.

The event was inaugurated on May 11 by Ms Gina Uika, Deputy Chief of Mission, Indian Embassy in Moscow and Mr Vijay Kumar Gauba, Additional Director General, Trade Promotion Council of India.

The meeting was organised to understand the current demand scenario in Russia for the focus sectors and explore opportunities to serve this demand, particularly in view of the existing economic and geopolitical situation.

It was attended by around 50 Indian exporters from the Ceramics, Chemicals, Ingredients and Agri & Food sectors accompanied the TPCI team for the event. They got the opportunity to interact with 400+ screened Russian buyers and trade visitors. 

While addressing the inaugural, Mr Vijay Kumar Gauba, said:

“In the current global scenario, countries need to intensify mutual cooperation and play a proactive and facilitative role to ensure continued trade flows in the overall interest. I am hopeful that this well attended Buyer-Seller Meet will help the industries from both sides to engage in productive negotiations to initiate new business deals or even expand existing ones, thereby enhancing our bilateral trade.”

Russia’s imports of Ceramic products from the world stood at US$ 1,154 million in the calendar year 2021 (Jan-Dec). The top importing countries are China, Italy, Spain, Germany, Belarus, India, etc. India’s rank is 6th despite having latent potential to cater to the market demand with exports at US$ 80 million.

 

 

Total Russian imports of Chemical & Allied Products were recorded at US$ 2,834 million in 2021 (Jan- Dec). The top exporting countries are China, Germany, Belarus, Italy, USA and France, while India is ranked 10th with exports of US$ 735 million. China is the largest exporter.

The event was well received in view of the increased demand for these products from Russia, which Indian exporters are well placed to fulfil.
