TPCI organises 3rd edition of India Food Manufacturing Summit in Vizag
Organized by the Trade Promotion Council of India (TPCI) in association with the Government of Andhra Pradesh, the India Food Manufacturing Summit in Vizag brought together an impressive lineup of policymakers, industry leaders, farmer producer organizations, academia, and innovators from across the country.
At a time when India’s food processing industry is undergoing rapid transformation, the summit has been envisioned as a premier platform to deliberate on the sector’s opportunities, challenges, and the way forward. Andhra Pradesh, with its rich agricultural base, thriving seafood and horticulture sectors, and progressive policies, set a fitting backdrop for this dialogue on how India can build a sustainable, competitive, and globally relevant food manufacturing ecosystem.
Trade Promotion Council of India, in association with the State Government of Andhra Pradesh, organised the 3rd Edition of India Food Manufacturing Summit at Vizag, Andhra Pradesh.
The inaugural session was helmed by the Chief Guest, Shri N. Chandrababu Naidu, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. Joining him as Guests of Honour were Shri T. G. Bharath, Hon’ble Minister for Industry & Commerce, Food Processing, Govt of Andhra Pradesh and Shri Avinash Joshi, IAS, Secretary, MoFPI, Government of India. Shri Chiranjiv Choudhary, Principal Secretary, Food Processing, Govt of Andhra Pradesh was also part of the inaugural panel.
The audience featured a vibrant cross section of policy representatives, F&B industry stakeholders, FPOs, R&D and academia, self-help groups and more.
The dignitaries were warmly welcomed and felicitated by Mr. Mohit Singla, Chairman, TPCI, who set the stage for the summit’s deliberations. During his address, he stated, “The India Food Processing Summit is a premier platform for dialogue, deliberation, and collaboration among stakeholders. Our vision is to help build a sustainable, dynamic, and technology-driven food processing ecosystem that empowers farmers, energizes processors, and strengthens India’s global competitiveness.”
Shri Chandrababu Naidu delivered an inspiring keynote address, outlining his vision for the holistic transformation of Andhra Pradesh. He spoke about the dominant trends in the food processing industry, India’s rapid progress in this field, and the vibrant opportunities it offers.
He highlighted the state’s strengths, including its strong agricultural base and diverse commodities, as well as rapid strides in food processing, a priority area under India@2047.
Addressing changing food habits driven by urbanization, rising incomes, and a shift from carbohydrates to proteins, he remarked: “We want to get into demand-driven agro processing products. Globally, nationally, we need to tap products with high demand.”
He stressed the government’s efforts to build plug-and-play ecosystems, focusing on both ease and speed of doing business while resolving critical issues like certification, traceability, logistics, and water availability. Urging businesses to invest in Andhra Pradesh, he noted its advantages as a preferred investment destination, and concluded: “The next generation of reforms should be aimed at promoting global brands from India and from Indians.”
Shri Chiranjiv Choudhary, Principal Secretary, Food Processing, Govt of Andhra Pradesh also talked about the competitive advantages of Andhra Pradesh’s raw material, human resource availability, food processing capabilities, connectivity, educational infrastructure, policy support which reflects in the strong confidence being shown by investors.
Shri Avinash Joshi, IAS, Secretary, MoFPI, shared his insights on the critical importance of the food industry as it is onee of the largest employers in the organized sector. Moreover it provides value addition and support to the farmers. He also shared details of central government schemes like PLI and PMKSY which covers large and medium sectors, and PMFME, which supports thousands of organisations like SHGs, FPOs, etc.
Shri T. G. Bharath, Hon’ble Minister for Industry & Commerce, Food Processing, Govt of Andhra Pradesh, talked about the decisive steps taken by the state government for the food processing sector, particularly the forward looking Food Processing Policy 4.0 that offers support through measures like interest subvention, power incentives, dedicated and modern infrastructure, robust single window clearance system and capital subsidies.
Mr. Singla also announced the opening of a new TPCI office in Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh. He noted that this initiative would strengthen support for the state’s F&B industry by enabling enterprises to connect with global value chains, enhance competitiveness, and tap new international opportunities.
