India-UK work to bolster trade ties

During Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s virtual meeting with his British counterpart, Prime Minister Boris Johnson, on Tuesday, the two nations concluded the Enhanced Trade Partnership (ETP). The pact aims at doubling and enhancing their bilateral trade by 2030 by bringing down market entry barriers and creating jobs. The two PMs also announced their intent to negotiate a comprehensive and balanced FTA in the summit.

“The virtual summit has opened a new chapter in bilateral relations between the two countries. The leaders had substantive discussions on the entire gamut of bilateral relations and exchanged views on regional and global issues of mutual interest,” Sandeep Chakravorty, Joint Secretary (Europe West), Ministry of External Affairs stated. The ETP will help in streamlining the procedure on returns, and reflects the growing confidence between the two countries.
