Sundar Pichai takes charge of Google

Larry Page and Sergey Brin, who founded Google more than twenty years ago, are stepping down from executive roles at Alphabet, Google’s parent company. This makes Sundar Pichai, Google’s chief executive, the chief of both Google and Alphabet.

Page and Brin took a lesser role in day-to-day operations in 2015, when Google was transformed into Alphabet. Since then, they started involving themselves in other things like life-extension technology. “While it has been a tremendous privilege to be deeply involved in the day-to-day management of the company for so long, we believe it’s time to assume the role of proud parents – offering advice and love, but not daily nagging!”, the founders wrote in their public letter.
