PM Modi calls for an egalitarian globalization

In a speech to the Non-Aligned Movement’s virtual meet on the covid-19 crisis on Monday,  Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi said the world will need a new template of globalisation based on fairness and equality. In his debut speech at the platform, he also stressed on the need to “promote human welfare and not focus on economic growth alone.”

The Prime Minister also called out to all the NAM nations to ensure that the international community and the World Health Organization focus on building health capacities in developing countries. “India’s civilization sees the whole world as one family, As we care for our own citizens we are also extending help to other countries,” he added.  India has so far sent medicines to 123 countries of the world, including 59 members of NAM.

He also hinted at the 40 day lockdown to arrest the spread of the nefarious pandemic by stating that India has shown during this crisis  how democracy, discipline and decisiveness can come together to create a genuine people’s movement.
