Logistics sector to create nearly 1.5 lakh jobs

According to the Team Lease Services biannual ‘Employment Outlook’ report for April-September 2019-20, the logistics sector is expected to add 1.49 lakh new jobs in the April-September period. This implies that there will be a 14.9% rise in employment generation YoY. The sector is also going to grow at 3% during the same period. This is primarily attributed to the growing online seller base in smaller cities.

The findings suggest that talent absorption will be the highest in railways, waterways, air freight and warehousing. In terms of cities, Mumbai and Delhi emerge as the top 2 destinations with maximum job opportunities. Tier II & Tier III cities are likely to see a 5% & 2% surge in hiring respectively.
