India among the top 3 nations with max. billionaires: Study
The findings of the 2020 Hurun Global Rich List have announced that with 138 billionaires in total, India is home to the most numbers of billionaires after China (799) and the US (626). Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezoshas retained the top spot for the third consecutive year.
The 9th edition of this annual report highlighted that despite economic slowdown, Indian billionaires grow in numbers, and wealth. India has added 34 to the list, with 50 of them living in Mumbai, 30 in New Delhi & 17 in Bengaluru. Mukesh Ambani is the only Indian to feature in the top 10, and for a second time, is also the richest in Asia.
Rupert Hoogewerf, Hurun Report Chairman and Chief Researcher, stated: “A boom in tech valuations and strong stock markets across the US, India and China have propelled the billionaires to record highs. The US had a record number of 626 ‘known’ billionaires. Despite the trade war, China has added 182 new faces to 799 billionaires, widening the gap with the US.”
