Going swadeshi is about self-confidence: CIM
On Thursday, the Union Commerce and Industry Minister, Shri Piyush Goyal said during the conference on –“Covid 19- Jaan bhi; Jahan bhi’ series that India is going to emerge a better country from the Covid-19 crisis. He clarified that going ‘swadeshi’ is about self-confidence and not inward-looking. Thus, the nation needs to strengthen the infrastructure across sectors, like health, education, railways, roads, airports, seaports, power and water.
The minister reiterated the PM’s message that the Rs 20 lakh crore special economic package rests on the pillar of Atmanirbhar Bharat – a self-reliant nation. “Atmanirbharta is not an inward-looking economy detached from the globe. It is not about disassociating yourself from all the good things that one can learn from the world. It is about working and engaging with the world from a position of strength,” he added.
He also spoke about the ideology of Vasudev Kutumbakam and how India reached out to 120 countries by supplying medicines for 3-4 billion people to fight the pandemic.
