Exporters may avail automated GST refund by June

Indian exporters of goods and services as well as suppliers to SEZ units are expected to receive GST refunds automatically from the coming month, according to an official source. So far, the facility was available only to exporters who had paid Integrated Goods & Services Tax (IGST).  The GST Network is integrated with customs, which ensures that in most cases, refunds reach the accounts of exporters within 15 days.

For manufacturer exporters and suppliers to SEZs, the procedure so far has involved filing an application in Form GST RFD-01A and submitting a printout of the same. The process typically takes months at present.
