Export of hydroxychloroquine banned

At a time when the spread of Coronavirus is at an all time high in India & the rest of the world, the Indian government has decided to ban the the export of hydroxychloroquine, a malaria drug, that has the potential to cure this (sometimes) deadly disease.

While at the moment there are no approved treatments, or preventive vaccines for COVID-19, experts across the nation are testing the efficacy of the drug in helping treat patients infected with the contagious disease. Most current patients receive only supportive care such as breathing assistance to mitigate the respiratory difficulties caused by this contagion. In order to find a remedy to this pandemic, researchers are studying existing treatments and working on experimental ones.

Further, the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP), has observed that this drug is already in shortage.
