China-India partners to counter US?

Ahead of the meeting between Indian PM Shri Narendra Modi and Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), China has welcomed India to be a part of an international effort to counter “trade protectionism and unilateralism” and also tackle the “bullying practices of the US”. Chinese Vice-Foreign Minister Zhang Hanhui affirmed during a press conference that “trade frictions between China and the United States and the spectre of trade frictions between the United States and India” could become an “important topic” for talks. He also added, “Trade protectionism and unilateralism are very much on the rise. How to respond to the bullying practices of the United States…its practices of trade protectionism is an important question.”
