2-year extension of UK work visas for intl. graduates
Taking a break from restrictive immigration policies, the British government has decided to offer from next year a two-year work visa to foreign students graduating from a British university. It has also lifted the cap on visa numbers and would allow graduates to apply for jobs irrespective of their skills or the subject they studied. This will increase their chances of finding long-term employment after studying.
At present, graduates with bachelors or master’s degrees are allowed to seek job opportunities for only four months. The new policy marks the return of an earlier one which was terminated by the coalition government in 2012. The discontinuation of the previous policy had led to a sharp drop in international student enrolments.
