1% growth in international air travel in H1

The first half of the year saw a mere 1% rise in the international air travel to and from India. The period between April-June saw 1% decline in international air travel following the collapse of Jet Airways — which had been the biggest airline in terms of flying people in and out of the country over past few years. The data collated by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) show that the reasonable growth in January-March period over same quarter last year meant that the first half of this year still saw 3.7 lakh (about 1.1%) more international travellers than 3.2 crore in the first six months of 2018. The aviation industry expects growth to revive again from July-September quarter onwards.
