October 14, 2016

Tea exports from India to Pakistan has fallen by around 36% to 7.46 million kg for the period January-August 2016 as compared to the same period previous year due to the rising tensions between the nations.

Tensions between the two nations have risen after India’s recent surgical strike on terror camps in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir. The tea route for Pakistan is currently via Dubai that is instead of exporting directly through Wagah border, merchant exporters have been shipping tea to Dubai and from there it is being shipped to Pakistan.

As the import from India has declined, Pakistan has started importing Tea from Kenya.
