FSSAI limits additives in alcoholic drinks

Food Safety and Standard Authority of India (FSSAI) has proposed fixing limits on additives used in alcoholic beverages, including wines and other drinks. The authority has invited suggestions, views, comments and other related inputs from the stakeholders within the period of 30 days on the draft notification related to additional additives, enzymes, processing aids to be used in the alcoholic beverages.

FSSAI has also included new additives in the list and it has mentioned the list of additives and enzymes which can be used in production of grape wine and distilled spirituous beverages containing more than 15 per cent alcohol. In a separate notification, FSSAI has also invited suggestions from stakeholder on standard of non-carbonated water-based beverages.
