TPCI organises Virtual India-Lebanon BSM on F&B Products 2020

On Monday, July 13, 2020, Trade Promotion Council of India organised the Virtual India-Lebanon Buyer-Seller Meet In The Food & Beverage Segment.. 

The event saw participation from quite a few notable personalities such as HE Dr. Suhel Ajaz Khan, Hon’ble Ambassador of India to Lebanon; Ms. Rana Zeitouni, Commercial Section, Embassy of India – Beirut; HE Anwar El Khalil, Member of Parliament, represented by Mr. Zaher Ghosn and Mr. Charles Zarzour, Ministry of Agriculture. Mr. Nicola Abou Faysal, President, Association of Bekaa Industrialists – Gardenia & Mr. Tony Tohmeh, Board Member, Chamber of Commerce, Industry & Agriculture Zahleh & Bekaa were also present in the meeting.

The session was initiated by Mr. Suresh Makhijani, Joint Director General, TPCI, who welcomed the participants and invited Ambassador Dr. Suhel Ajaz Khan, to address the gathering. 

The Ambassador expressed confidence in the bilateral ties between the two countries and stated that such opportunities could be great platforms for the two nations to augment their trade and economies.

This Buyer – Seller Meet offered a platform to well-known Lebanese  Food & Beverage Importers, Distributors and Supermarket chains  who made interesting short presentations of their Organisations and were keen to explore the best quality food products which India has to offer. 

The session saw participation by quite a few Indian Exporters  who made brief presentations about their companies and products they offer. These included well-known entities like Hamdard Laboratories, Jivraj Tea Ltd, Adani Wilmar, ITC Ltd and Forstar Frozen, to name a few. 

The Lebanese side had a few importers who were also large exporters for fresh fruits like grapes & wines.

The discussion was moderated by Mr. Sandip Das, Director & Mr. Deepak Vohra, Sr. Deputy Director, on behalf of TPCI.

The Ambassador then summarized the key takeaways from the session and said that the session would lead to many more of such mutually beneficial opportunities for  improving the bilateral trade between the two countries.

A vote of thanks was extended by Mr. Ashok Sethi, Director, TPCI, who expressed his gratitude to the participants for their valuable time.and thanked Ambassador Suhel Ajaz  Khan  to initiated a robust start a Virtual BSM culture which would hopefully lead to many more in the future to drive  mutual business interests.
