TPCI organises India Pavilion at Selangor International Business Summit, Malaysia

TPCI with the support of the Department of Commerce, Government of India, organised an India Pavilion at the 3rd Selangor International Business Summit, Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC), Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 10th -13th October, 2019. This is one of the premier business summits for Food & Beverages sector in ASEAN region. Around 45 Indian food & beverage exporters  were part of the pavilion.

The pavilion was inaugurated by Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah of Selangor, Mridul Kumar, High Commissioner of India to Malaysia, Dr Varun Jeph, First Secretary (Commerce & Political), High Commission of India to Malaysia, Chief Minister of Selangor Amiruddin Shari and Mohit Singla, Chairman, TPCI. The pavilion was designed on the theme ‘Flavours of India’ and a special display zone was developed for the showcase of Indian F&B brands. Some of the top Indian companies that participated in the India pavilion included Hamdard Laboratories India, Haldiram Snacks, Jubilant Consumer , MTR Foods and Britannia.

Malaysia imported US$ 14.5 billion worth of Food & Beverages from the world during 2018. India’s food and beverage export to Malaysia was valued at $ 843.9 million in 2018. India’s share in Malaysia’s total F&B import was merely 5.8%. Major products exported by India to Malaysia included bovine meat, food preparation, fruits and vegetables, confectionery, rice and ground nuts etc.
