RBI buys US$ 10.261 bn in Nov’20

According to the monthly bulletin released by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), it remained a net buyer of the US currency in November 2020. It bought US$ 10.261 billion from the spot market during this period. During November 2019, it had bought US$ 7.458 billion and sold US$ 530 million in the spot market.

In October 2020 too, the RBI was a net buyer of the US currency, as it had not sold the US currency. It had bought US$ 15.64 billion from the spot market. The statement also said that in FY20, the central bank had net purchased USD 45.097 billion. This included buying US$ 72.205 billion and selling US$ 27.108 billion in the spot market. The central bank’s outstanding net purchase at the end of November was US$ 28.344 billion, compared to US$ 13.556 billion in October.
