Indian firms: Most trusted by domestic population

The local population trusts Indian firms the most (89%), followed by China (82%), Canada, the US and the UK. Findings from the Edelman Trust Barometer Special Report: The Geopolitical Business showed that geopolitics is now a litmus test for trust in business amidst corporate exit from Russia. India ranked second in the overall trust index, after China. In January 2022, India bagged the third rank.

The survey showed that 47% of the respondents have bought or boycotted brands based on the parent company’s response to the invasion of Ukraine. Further, 79% employees said that they will be loyal to the company based on their employer’s response to the Ukraine invasion, while 80% of them will recommend that employer to others.

Scientists have been regarded as the most trusted category, while the United Nations is the only trusted global institution by the report. The survey was conducted in 14 countries with a sample size of 14,000 respondents between April and May.
