India’s grape exports to Europe by 31%

The year 2018-19 saw a 31% increase in the export of grapes to Europe, one of the most premium markets for the product. Within Europe, the prominent destinations for India’s grape exports were the Netherlands, UK and Germany, which accounted for 90% of the export figures. At the same time, other destinations, which are expected to see an increase in grape exports include Russia & China, with an expected rise of about 25-30%.

According to the data presented by Agricultural and Processed Foods Development Agency (APEDA), India’s grape exports surged from 92,286 tons in 2017-18 to 121,469 tons in 2018-19. The findings also noted that due to an oversupply situation in the European markets, there was a slump in the prices fetched by the Indian grapes.
