India strategises for military goods exports

India has prepared a list of 85 countries for export promotion of military equipment where it wants to promote its defence equipment. It has empowered its defence attaches to show India’s expertise in the sector. Furthermore, each attache has been allotted a budget of US$ 50,000 to promote exports of Indian defence products through participation in exhibitions, market studies, seminars and distribution of publicity material. This initiative has been undertaken with an annual export target of Rs 35,o00 crore for defence goods by 2025 from around Rs 4,000 crore at present. Top export markets identified by the government for the sector are Vietnam, Thailand, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, UAE and Malaysia.
