India to Export Mangoes to South Korea from July

June 20, 2016

India is likely to export mangoes to South Korea from July, which could amplify the overall export of the fruit. Korea has announced this in the first week of June. Industry experts believe that there were certain sanitary and phyto-sanitary issues which should be resolved to achieve smooth movements in trade.

According to the Director General of Federation of Indian Export Organisation, Ajay Sahai, the pre-shipment inspection will be done by the Korea Animal and Plant Quarantine agency and the Indian mangoes would compete in Korean markets with varieties from Pakistan, Vietnam, Thailand and Philippines.

Every year, India exports around 41,000 tons of mangoes to market overseas including West Asia, USA, Australia, Canada and New Zealand.
