TPCI holds meeting with the Ambassador of Republic of Iraq
Trade Promotion Council of India conducted a fruitful meeting with the Ambassador of Republic of Iraq on strengthening the trade relations between the two countries, and extending a warm welcome to H.E. Dr Falah A. Abdulsada, Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to India, who has recently taken up his assignment in New Delhi.
The Ambassador initiated the discussion by highlighting the opportunities in the food, tourism and housing/construction sectors, in view of the improved security situation in Iraq & the impact of increased crude oil production in the country.
The discussion also focused on the grand success of INDUSFOOD-I (18-19 January 2018) with the participation of a large Iraqi delegation comprising of 50 Iraqi companies. As a follow up, a business delegation led by TPCI in F&B sector will visit Basra, Baghdad and Najaf in end of July 2018 to further interact with Iraqi companies and to promote INDUSFOOD-II.
Chairman also said that TPCI will participate in the annual Baghdad International Trade Fair scheduled to be held from 10th November to 19th November 2018. Ambassador highlighted that such initiatives could definitely pave a path for encouraging Government to Government business interaction between the two countries and that TPCI should remain instrumental in doing so.
The above meeting was conducted on 22nd May 2018. The attendees were Mr Mohit Singla, Chairman, TPCI accompanied by Mr Suresh Kumar Makhijani, Joint Director General and Mr Ashok Sethi, Director, from TPCI. They met up with H.E. Dr Falah A. Abdulsada, Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to India who was assisted by Mr. Khaldoon Tareq Yaseen, Commercial Counsellor of the Iraqi Embassy. It was a very cordial meeting with both sides agreeing to keep in touch with each other for a follow up and take a few activities forward.
